Let's say you were Team Lotus, and it was 1968. You were on your way to go racing at Silverstone.... what better (or cooler) way to arrive on track than to have a Mini Moke at your disposal!
This release from Spark Models (S0299), comes complete with the Mini Moke, racing Europa, trailer, and incredibly tiny gold leaf decals to boot! I was impressed (as I always seem to be with any model that is released by Spark with the minute (and seemingly fragile) details that are included. Note the tiny side mirror, along with the hood latches.... even the hitch is down to the smallest detail. This model is presented on a very nice wooden base, and includes a plexiglass case (as do all their models) to protect the tiny bits from prying hands. Here's another shot of the detail on the Moke... also note the tri-eared knock offs on the Lotus!
With Spark, these models are produced in very limited editions, so if you are interested, I would suggest contacting Jim at Diecasm to snag one.
Matchbox has been busy the last few months releasing several versions of the Lotus Europa. Currently on the toy pegs, one can now find a yellow Europa, a green Europa that is included in a 5 pack car collection, and now this little gem. This is a Matchbox Lesney Edition '72 Lotus Europa Special, and is painted in a purple hue with orange racing accents. Many years ago (circa 1953), Lesney Matchbox cars came in a small cardboard box with the car drawn on the front (this was long before plastic clamshell packaging). This Europa replicates this type of packaging, and includes a small cardboard box to put your car in...that is if you open the package! I am not sure if Walmart is the only carrier of these special Europas, but that is where I picked up mine.
Happy Hunting!!
