This month, there continues a trend to release more goodies and create havoc on my wallet...
For those of you that missed out when the Lotus Project M250 was released..and rereleased, and released as a limited edition "Treasure Hunt" vehicle, rejoice, as Hot Wheels has once again re-released the M250 for their 2006 line up! Sporting a unique hue of green (nope not a British green-more of a "welcome back to the 70's" shade of green!), the car is #192 of the line up this year, ahead of car #189 ... the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile! On the back of the package is this little tidbit about the car: "The Lotus Project M250 was a concept car that, to date, has never made it to the streets. It was supposed to accelerate to 100 MPH in under 11 seconds.."
The next collectibles were recently found via Ebay, and quite a nice find! In Japan, in order to promote the next bond movie, Circle Q convenience stores were selling limited edition Bond vehicles in 1:72 scale ... by Kyosho! The kicker is that they were packaged "blind", meaning you had no idea as to what car you would be getting in the box. Here's a picture of the outer package:
Those of you might remember a review that I did some time ago of the great detail Kyosho puts into the diecast cars, both in 1/43 and 1/18 scale. I know that they had done both a Europa and Elan, but never an Esprit! What is amazing is the detail that went into both versions of this release, in 1/72 scale.. you could either get the car in "road" mode:
... or "sub" mode
Each car came with a replica of the movie poster used to promote the original release, along with some type of description of the cars on the reverse side.
Anyone in the group know Japanese? As I mentioned previously, these are limited edition releases by Kyosho, and would recommend doing an Ebay search if you would like to get them. I can't state enough the great detail, in 1/72 scale .... here's a comparison next to the hot wheels car:
I am hoping that with this release, perhaps Kyosho now has licensing for the Esprit ... once the next Bond movie comes out, perhaps we will know more! Next month, we will focus on Bond... James Bond! Happy Hunting!!
