This month were hack to the Lotus models... although as a side note to my previous newsletter submission, there also exists an Opel Speedster in 1:64 scale as part of a Marvel Superhero 5 pack. This Speedster is from Maisto, its Spiderman's mode of transport! But I digress...

The Lotus Elise GT1, or Type 115 as it was known, was introduced in 1997, as a joint effort between Group Lotus International and GT1 Lotus Racing. The car was designed for the 24 hour of LeMans, and other endurance racing. Lucky for us, they also released a diecast version for those who couldn't afford the real thing!

Released in 1:18 scale by Chrono and also Sunstar, the GT1 featured four different paint schemes: the Yellow "Franck Muller" GT1, the Benneton GT1. the Thai Airlines GT1, and the road version Presentation GT1. These diecasts have very good detail, and crisp clean graphics. Unfortunately, they do not contain any opening parts, but they are still a great model to add to your collection. Currently. the Benneton and Thai Airlines GT1's seem to be easier to find. Usually a quick search on ebay will uncover these, but they are becoming more scarce as they are out of production. Good luck, and happy hunting!
