This month, we celebrate the month of "sparktober" with even more models from Spark models! Spark, it seems, has an endless supply of merchandising agreements with Classic Team Lotus. The model range that they have produced so far (and have sold out of as well) is very impressive from a small model manufacturer.....especially one that has only been on the scene for a few years.

If you recall from the last newsletter, we discussed a Lotus with a Porsche engine in it...now we have another Lotus "conglomeration". This is the Lotus 25 driven in the French Grand Prix of 1964. Mike Hailwood drove this car... for BRM. The car is decked out in the dark blue paint scheme of BRM, and includes some rather interesting features, such as the unique engine layout (compare this with the next model) and rear tires. Not sure why the white "wobbly web" rims didn't seem to work for the rear tires....

Here's a Lotus 25 driven in the 1963 British Grand Prix by Trevor Taylor. It gives you a better idea of the rear engine treatment of both cars. Again, as it seems to be on all Spark models, the level of detail is exacting on their entire model range.

Finally, here's the Spark Lotus 19 from 1960. Again, it's in 1/43 scale. I am not sure about the front headlamp treatment on this, as other models from the type 19, seem to have clear covered headlamps. Maybe someone can enlighten us on this. Note the detail around the windscreen, with the rivets, and tow bar hooks on the front!

Jim Cowen from Diecasm can fix you up with any of these fine models....but I can't stress enough, that due to these being handbuilt models, they don't make very many of them, so get them now, or pay for it later!

Next month, we'll look at a few racing Europa models, and some of my recent finds from Japan.

Happy Haunting Hunting!
