This month we will continue to marvel at the large assortment of Lotus models that Spark has decided to unleash upon the weary pocketbooks of Lotusphiles such as myself.
It's hard to imagine an F1 car nowadays without advertising, but Lotus was the first (be it good or bad) to place tobacco advertising on their F1 cars with the Gold Leaf tobacco brand. Spark has done a great job releasing the mammoth Team Transporter, with all the proper markings that go along with it!
This particular vehicle was the team transport in 1970. Keep in mind it is in 1/43 scale ... to the actual bus! It's a big, heavy model! Spark does a great job with this one, and like all the other releases before, provides a sturdy acrylic case to keep it protected. If you are a nostalgic F1 fan, then this one deserves to be in your collection. When you look at the motorhomes in today's F1 paddock, these seem rather spartan and archaic!
Another release that is getting very difficult to find (and another reason to get them while you can), is the Dodge Travco Team Lotus Transport from 1973. As with the above model. Spark has done a great job on this one as well. They even provide the proper JPS markings for that extra touch.
Finally, we will round out this month with the Spark Lotus Esprit. This particular model is the Sport 300 that raced at LeMans in 1994. This model is in 1/43 scale, and the detail is what I have come to expect in the models that I have purchased... INCREDIBLE! It contains photoetched parts (such as the tow hook), and minute details such as the drilled air holes
in the rear quarter panel glass.
Here's another view
Whatever your interest in Lotus models, you won't be disappointed with Spark models. They have such a diverse collection that there is bound to be model that will appeal to you! These are available from several retailers, including Jim at Diecasm.
Next month, we will look a few new Minichamps F1 models, along with a few surprises from Hot Wheels....
Happy Hunting!
