This month we will continue with the Elise based stepbrother, the Opel Speedster.

First up, is the Speedster in 1:18th scale. Two different diecast companies have released this model in this scale. Maisto's version, of which a picture is included (#31615) comes in either orange or silver color, and has very good detail for the price, with the doors, hood, and trunk opening up. In addition, you can also get this particular model from Maisto in kit form to put together yourself (#39615), although the only color offered in the kit is silver.

Welly (another die cast manufacturer from China) has also released a version of the Opel Speeder (#2511). Their version comes orange. blue, yellow, and silver. While I can't confirm the quality details. I have purchased other Welly die casts in the past. and the quality appears to be on par with the Maisto brand. Both of these models include a nice display case as well, and can easily be found for around $25.00 at various online die cast shops, or in local hobby shops.

Next up, is the Opel Speedster in 1:36 scale. This little gem was released by Maisto, as part of their Power Racer line. This is a friction-type model, in that you can pull it hack, and let it go! The Speedster only comes in yellow, and the only opening parts are the doors. Each case is a various assortment of vehicles, so you will have to do some digging...but for $1.99, it's worth the searching! Currently, Wal-Mart is the only retailer that I know of that carries this line. Happy Hunting!!
