Once again, we are treated to new releases this month from both Hot Wheels and Matchbox. First up, is the Lotus Esprit, which undergoes a paint transformation for the Code Car release. The car has been through numerous repaint jobs throughout the years ... this time we have a silver esprit, with purple and black stripes, with purple glass to boot. Probably the most unique paint job to date for Hot Wheels!
This particular release is number 10 out of 24 in the Code Car series, and is roughly 1:56 in scale.
When I first heard that Matchbox was going to be releasing another Lotus model the Elise S1 immediately came to mind. The reason is that, like the Lotus Esprit of Hot Wheels, Matchbox continues to just rehash this model again and again ... well I was wrong on this one! New for 2007, and number 12 in the series is the stunning Lotus Exige! Matchbox has done a great job on this, with much more detail than their previous releases. The Exige is done in a yellowish gold tone complete with black air scoops. and rear sing. The model even has detailed lights! This model is one that You must be on the lookout for...you won't be disappointed in the detail ... or the price!
Finally, this little gem, courtesy of Joe Mazurk. This is a 1:30 scale kit of a Lotus Esprit, Series 3 from 1983. Interestingly enough, they place the engine in the front! Still a very unique piece of Lotus toy memorabilia ... thanks again, Joe!
Happy Hunting!
