This event premiered on our 2024 calendar - and it re-turns again for 2025. Hosted by Larry Drummond, we’re back slot car racing at Chicagoland Raceway! There are quite a few of us that grew up slot car racing, including ex-champs like Bob Herzog. (See the March 2024 Notus for an article on Bob Herzog’s slot car escapades in the 1970s).
For only $14, you get to race with a track supplied car and controller. The cars provided for this night of racing are not crazy fast. You can easily see them, they’re very controllable, and are a lot of fun to race. Since there are 8 lanes on this 1/24th scale track, you get 8 two minute heats, one heat on each lane - and the winner is declared by totaling heat times. Watch for an email reminder a couple days before the event.
